The Sequoia Cross Country team trained an impressive 54 athletes this season and reached some record-breaking highs! Our Varsity Boys beat the SHS all-time PAL Championship record set in 2011, shaving five seconds off the school's top 5 combined times. The JV Boys (finishing 1, 2, 3, 6, 7) shut out the open race competition finishing first at the PAL Championship, on top of winning 5 PAL and Invitational races leading up to the event.
Over 25 athletes ran a personal record at the PAL Championship at Crystal Springs. Sophomore Mira Goodwin qualified for Central Coast Sectionals finishing 53 of 118 runners and Senior Bijon Vijeh took 1st place in his race of 99.
The team has already begun planning off-season training for June '22 in hot pursuit of a 2022 PAL Championship win and State Qualification. Shout out to seniors Ella Blaney, Sumon Bomya, Alessandro Duran, Raymond Evans, Miles Keitz, Robert Lively, Ethan McKillop, Jackson Scott, Bijan Vijeh, and Sean Yure - and congrats to the whole team on a fantastic year!
